Ruth E. Lange

Ruth E. Lange, 94, formerly of Smoketown, PA, passed away at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, Quarryville, PA, on Friday, June 21, 2019. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Arthur R. and Frances (Long) Uhlig. Ruth marked 63 years of marriage with her husband William A. “Bill” Lange before his death on April 6, 2010.

She graduated from Forest Hills High School, Queens, NY, in 1943 and was a great homemaker for her family. Ruth enjoyed flower gardening, was a wonderful baker, she did embroidery and she had a great sense of humor.
Ruth was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Lancaster, PA, and she enjoyed baking for the church bazaar.

Ruth is survived by two daughters, Carole A., wife of William Pacula of Garden City, NY, and June A. Lange of Strasburg, PA, as well as two grandchildren, David Pacula, husband of Kristin and Amy, wife of Paul Andrews, and her granddaughter Noelle Pacula. In addition to her husband Bill, Ruth was preceded in death by her sister Grace Uhlig Zimmerman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11 AM Monday July 1, 2019, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17601. A viewing will be held on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Bachman Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 7 South Decatur Str., Strasburg, PA 17579. Private interment will take place in St.
Charles Catholic Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.

Marie C. Poley

Marie Catherine Poley, 66, of Strasburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, June 12, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Ralph G. and Marie C. (McNelis) Woodland. Marie is survived by her husband Alan G. Poley, of Strasburg. They were married on August 19, 1972.

She graduated from Souderton High School, Souderton, PA and also attended Pillsbury Baptist Bible College, Minneapolis, MN and Ursinus College, Collegeville, PA. Marie and Alan were longtime members of Highland Baptist Church of Parkesburg. She enjoyed the ladies bible study group and cherished the friends she made through her church involvement.

She was a photographer, enjoyed horseback riding and loved spending time with her family, they were her greatest joy. In her early years she was known by many to be an athlete and loved playing softball and basketball. She loved art, poetry, and was a published writer. Marie published a children’s story called Some Special Day in a Christian reading curriculum book.

In addition to her husband Alan, she is survived by three daughters, Cristi Getz, wife of Michael, of Leola, Camie Miller, of Strasburg, Coleen Frazier, wife of Daniel, of Lancaster, eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a sister Carol Berkey, wife of David, of Pottstown. She was preceded in death by a brother, Karl Woodland.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 11AM at Highland Baptist Church 1 E. Highland Rd. Parkesburg, PA 19365. A visitation will be held from 10AM-11AM at the church. After the memorial service there will be a light luncheon to follow. Interment will be held on Monday, June 24th at 11AM at Limerick Garden of Memories 44 Swamp Pike Limerick, PA 19468. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Highland Baptist Church.

Bernard Palmeri

Bernard Palmeri went to be with The Lord on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community where he has resided since November of 2016. He and his wife, Linda (Dierking) Palmeri, celebrated 54 years of marriage on May 1.

Bernie was born in Brooklyn, NY, the only son of Salvatore and (Anna Fanelli). In addition to his wife, Linda, he is survived by two sons, Mark (Val Nace) and Jeffrey (Amy Strausner) and a grandson, Matthew.

He served in the Army Reserves from 1961 until 1962.

Bernie and his family moved from Staten Island to Ronks, PA in 1972.
Bernie was a faithful member of Marticville United Methodist Church. His greatest enjoyments – church affiliation, family, friends, neighbors and anybody he met.

There will be a Celebration of Bernie’s Life at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 (TOMORROW) in the Ellingsworth Auditorium at QPRC, 675 Robert Fulton Highway, Quarryville, PA with Chaplain Lawrence C. Roff officiating. The family will greet friends from 10:30 AM until the time of the service.  Interment is Private.
